Marketing your VA services can feel overwhelming when you're juggling client work, business management, and life. But one of the most effective (and free!) ways to attract new clients is by leveraging social media.
When I first started my VA business, I had no idea how much platforms like Instagram, Tiktok, and Facebook would help me build a thriving client base. These tools are invaluable for showcasing your skills, building trust, and making real connections that turn into paid work.
In this post, I’ll share simple, actionable ways to use social media to grow your VA business, without feeling like you have to be online 24/7.
Choose the Right Platforms for Your Business
Before you dive into content creation, take a step back and think about where your ideal clients are hanging out. Not every platform will be worth your time—and that’s okay!
Here’s a quick breakdown:
Instagram - A highly visual platform that is perfect for building a personal brand. Instagram Stories, Reels, and carousels allow you to showcase your services, share testimonials, and connect with potential clients in an authentic way. It’s also great for behind-the-scenes content and creating a sense of community.
TikTok - Don’t underestimate the power of short-form video! TikTok is an excellent place to share tips, educate your audience, and go viral with content that resonates. Many business owners and entrepreneurs browse TikTok for ideas and service providers, so this is a great platform to showcase your expertise and personality.
Facebook - Facebook Groups remain a goldmine for finding VA opportunities and connecting with your niche. Join groups where your ideal clients hang out, offer helpful advice, and build relationships. You can also use your personal profile or a business page to promote your services.
You don’t need to be on every platform, you can choose one or two that align with your target market and focus your efforts there.
Showcase Your Expertise Through Content
Once you’ve picked your platforms, it’s time to show potential clients what you bring to the table. You want to position yourself as someone who knows their stuff and can make life easier for your clients.
Here are a few content ideas to get you started:
Share your wins (without breaking client confidentiality). For example, “Helped my client save 5 hours a week by streamlining her inbox!”
Post tips related to your niche—whether it’s social media management, email marketing, admin support, etc.
Share client testimonials or reviews in graphics, Stories, or short-form video.
Document your process. People love seeing how you do what you do.
Go behind the scenes. Show your workspace, tools you use, or what a day in your VA life looks like.
The key is to create content that builds trust and shows you understand your clients' needs.
Engage & Build Relationships
Social media isn’t just about broadcasting what you do—it’s about building relationships.
Here’s how you can use social media for genuine connection:
Engage with potential clients' content. Like, comment, and share thoughtfully on their posts.
Start conversations in DMs when appropriate (without coming off as salesy).
Be active in Facebook groups and offer value. Answer questions, provide helpful tips, and be known as a go-to person in your space.
Collaborate with other VAs or online business owners. Partnerships and referrals can be a powerful way to grow your business.
When you focus on building relationships first, the client inquiries will naturally follow.
Social media doesn’t have to feel overwhelming—it can be a fun, creative, and effective way to market your VA services and grow your business.
Start by choosing the platforms that make sense for your goals, consistently share content that positions you as an expert, and engage with your community. Over time, you’ll build a network of potential clients and collaborators who trust you and want to work with you.
You’ve got this!
