Things I Do to Avoid Business Burnout (As a 6-Figure Business Owner)

Burnout doesn’t usually happen overnight. It builds slowly—more decisions, more responsibility, more things pulling you in different directions.

And for a lot of business owners, success actually makes it worse.

Because as your business grows, so does the pressure to keep everything running.

But here’s the truth: I didn’t build a business just to feel constantly overwhelmed by it.

So I’ve created a few non-negotiables in my life and business that protect my time, energy, and sanity. These are the things that allow me to run a 6-figure business (while scaling to 7 😉) without feeling burnt out.

I Don’t Work on the Weekends

On Friday afternoons, I close my laptop—and I don’t open it again until Monday morning.

No checking in. No “quick little tasks.” No being half-present with my family while thinking about work.

This only works because I’ve built systems and support inside my business that keep things moving in the background.

And honestly, that’s the goal.

Your business shouldn’t require your constant attention to function. If it does, that’s usually a sign something needs to shift operationally.

I Move My Body 5 Days a Week

This is a non-negotiable for me.

Whether it’s weight lifting, a long walk, or something simple to get moving, I treat it like part of my job—not something I squeeze in if I have time.

Because when I feel good, I think better. I show up better. I make better decisions.

And at the end of the day, how you operate as a person directly impacts how your business performs.

I Treat Myself Every Week

I know it sounds simple, but having something to look forward to every week makes a huge difference.

It could be fresh nails, a coffee date, new flowers, or even just my favorite dark chocolate.

It’s not about the thing itself—it’s about creating small moments that break up the routine and give you something to enjoy along the way.

Running a business shouldn’t feel like constant pressure with no reward.

I Prioritize Date Nights and Family Time

Another non-negotiable.

Weekly date nights. Dedicated family time. Fully unplugged.

Because at the end of the day, my business exists to support my life—not take over it.

It’s really easy to blur those lines when you work for yourself. But creating clear boundaries here has been one of the biggest factors in avoiding burnout.

I Schedule Time with Friends

And yes… I literally put it on my calendar.

Life gets busy. Business gets busy. And before you know it, months go by without intentionally spending time with people you care about.

Scheduling it might sound a little “type A,” but it works.

And maintaining those relationships is just as important as anything else on my to-do list.

I Hire the Right People

This is probably the biggest one.

I have an incredible team that supports me every single day—and it’s the reason I’ve been able to grow without everything falling back on me.

Because burnout doesn’t come from working hard.

It comes from feeling like everything depends on you.

When you have the right people in place, things don’t bottleneck at you. Decisions don’t pile up. The business keeps moving, even when you step away.

That’s the difference between having help… and having real support.

If you’re feeling burnt out in your business, it’s not because you’re doing something wrong.

It’s usually because you’ve outgrown the way your business is currently running.

And the solution isn’t to push harder—it’s to build better support, better systems, and better boundaries.

These are the things that have allowed me to grow and actually enjoy the life I’m building.

And if we have any of these in common… I already know you’re my kind of person 🤍
